Georgia Bulldogs Recruiting: Is Geno Smith Playing Games with his Recruiting?
Geno Smith is one of the top cornerback recruits in the country and has had teams from all over the place trying to get him to attend their school.
Smith is telling people that he is settling with his top five of Alabama, Auburn, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Texas. Notice the Bulldogs aren’t on that list.
He reportedly has no interest in playing for the Bulldogs, yet sources close to the team are saying that he has a lot of interest in the team and is simply playing games with people. Could this be true?
If it is, it wouldn’t be the first time that some team has gotten a recruit out of nowhere, but it would be kind of hard for him to hide it with him getting questioned about it every day.
Smith has the talent to become an elite level cover corner, though he is undersized right now as he is listed at 6’, 165 pounds.
Smith is relying a lot on his ability to run and break on the ball to dominate in high school, but once he gets in to college he will need to gain some weight and learn to jam receivers at the line better.
That shouldn’t be a problem though once he gets into a good Strength and Conditioning Program, so the only questions he really has left is where is going to go to school?
There’s no way to know for sure, but I know that I am not giving up on Smith until I see him commit to another school. It could be that someone has been misinformed, but these usually have a good idea of what is going on.
If Georgia doesn’t get him, they still have a high chance to get other defensive backs like Nelson Agholor, who I will have an article about tomorrow.
